CBS Wins 3 Awards

Chennai Business School has been adjudged winner in three categories in the Impact-Outstanding B-Schools in Marketing Awards 2009:

·         Best B-school with industry-related curriculum in Marketing

·         Best B-school with industry-related curriculum in Advertising

·         Best professor teaching marketing management.

The awards, which were given out on 6 February 2009 during the “World HRD Congress” held at Taj Lands End, Mumbai, have recognized Chennai Business School as a best B-School with respect to the relevance of its curriculum – innovation, development and industry interface – in meeting industry requirements.  The awards clearly accentuated Chennai Business School’s “Learning for the real world” philosophy.  

The factors that have contributed to the success of the CBS Programs have been the extensive use of senior managers from the industry for specialization courses, live cases from the industry, innovative field projects and core faculty with experience in both industry as well as academia. The curriculum is completely tailored to meet the needs of the industry with provisions for up-to-the-minute additions based on feedback from key professionals in industry, curriculum development workshops, corporate recruiters, alumni and the faculty.

For the “Best Professor Teaching Marketing Management” category, the jury assessed the profiles of the person nominated, his/her strengths and achievements in teaching and any other outstanding activities undertaken.  Prof. R. Sathyanarayanan, who received the award, is the Head of the Marketing & Communications and Retail Varsity at CBS.  Prof. Sathyanarayanan has a decade-long blend of industry and academic experience. He is also a member of the CII Task force on Entrepreneurship and has undertaken several successful consulting assignments.  Prof. Sathya is ably supported by Mr.Mohan Menon, former Director of Ogilvy & Mather, who is the Chairman of the Varsity.

Impact, the organization that gave out the awards, is a leading publication in Marketing, Brand Management, Communciations & Advertising. The publication is a part of the Exchange4media group. The IMPACT Business School Awards recognize institutions that are innovative, modern and industry-related in their curriculum in marketing, advertising, communications among other areas.  The awards are well-researched and the winners chosen by an independent jury comprising a panel of professionals who believe in nurturing Talent and in recognizing the best of the best.
